User Guide: Detailed Guide

How the Goalfix platform is organised, how to enter data in each section, and how to access your results and insights.

How the platform is organised

When you are logged in, the left sidebar is your main navigation:

  • Dashboard — High-level KPIs and charts by scenario (separate page).
  • Model Inputs — Products & Sales, Fixed Expenses, Variable Expenses, Capex (Assets), Funding, Deposits.
  • Settings — Project Settings, Model Parameters, Scenario Settings.
  • Statements — Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow.
  • Supporting Schedules — IS Schedules, BS Schedules, Tax Schedule.
  • Analysis — Key Financial Indicators (KFIs), Sensitivity Analysis.

Clicking a sidebar item opens the model page with that section in a single main card. The header shows the section title and a Save Model button. For output and analysis sections, a scenario bar appears below the header so you can switch between Baseline, Best Case, and Worst Case and open "Manage scenario defaults" to edit Scenario Settings.

Data entry: views and how to enter data

Each input section (Products & Sales, Fixed Expenses, Variable Expenses, Capex, Funding, Deposits) can be shown in Card View or Table View. Use the toggle in the top-right of the section (e.g. "Card View" / "Table View") to switch. In both views you can add and remove items and edit values.

  • Card View — Each product, expense, asset, funding source, or deposit is shown as a card. Use Add [item] (e.g. Add Product, Add Fixed Expense) to create a new row; use Edit or Delete on the card to change or remove it.
  • Table View — Data is shown in tables with columns for label, Year 1/Year 2, and each month. Use the Add button in the header to add a row; use the Delete button on each row (or block) to remove it. You can use the Year 1 / Year 2 dropdown to focus on one year at a time.

Recommended order for entering data:

  1. Project Settings (Settings): Project name, description, and model term (e.g. 24 months).
  2. Products & Sales: Add products; enter volumes (whole numbers), unit cost, and unit selling price per month. Right-click a cell and choose Copy to rest of the months to copy that value to the remaining periods.
  3. Fixed Expenses: Enter monthly amounts and choose whether each expense is paid in cash or on credit (e.g. 30 days). For Advertising, Electricity & Water, Rental, and Salaries, use the detail schedules (expand or open the related schedule) where available.
  4. Variable Expenses: Enter expense name and % of sales; variable expenses are treated as paid in cash.
  5. Capex (Assets): Add purchased and/or leased assets and complete the fields (cost, start month, etc.) in the table or card form.
  6. Funding: Add capital and loans with amounts, timing, and terms.
  7. Deposits: Add deposits (e.g. rental, municipal) with amounts and months.

Settings that drive the model

Project Settings: Name, description, and model term. Model Parameters: Tax rate, credit terms, interest rates, dividend %, stock months, and similar parameters used by the calculation engine. Scenario Settings: Default multipliers for Baseline, Best Case, and Worst Case. When you change the scenario (on the model page or Dashboard), the platform applies these multipliers and recalculates all outputs.

Accessing results and insights

Once your inputs and settings are in place, the platform calculates the financial statements and analysis. Access them as follows:

  • Financial Statements — From the sidebar, open Statements and choose Income Statement, Balance Sheet, or Cash Flow. Each is shown as a table with period columns. The scenario bar at the top lets you switch scenario and see the same statements under different assumptions.
  • Supporting Schedules — Under Supporting Schedules, open IS Schedules, BS Schedules, or Tax Schedule for the underlying detail that feeds into the main statements.
  • Key Financial Indicators (KFIs) — Under Analysis, open Key Financial Indicators. You can switch between Card View and Table View. Cards group metrics (e.g. profitability, cash flow, break-even); the table shows the same data in a compact grid.
  • Sensitivity Analysis — Under Analysis, open Sensitivity Analysis to see how outputs change when key inputs (e.g. volume, price, costs) change.
  • Dashboard — From the sidebar, open Dashboard for a separate overview page with KPI cards (e.g. Total Revenue, Gross Profit, Net Profit, Ending Cash), sparklines, and charts. Use the scenario selector on the Dashboard to view the same metrics by scenario.

Saving your work

Click Save Model in the model page header to save your data. Data is stored per user and per scenario. Switching the scenario selector loads that scenario's saved inputs and outputs, so you can maintain different assumptions (Baseline, Best Case, Worst Case) independently.

Practical tips

  • Use Copy to rest of the months (right-click on a cell in table view) to copy one value across the remaining periods.
  • Enter whole numbers where the field expects integers (e.g. volumes); omit decimals when not required.
  • Check Model Parameters and Scenario Settings before interpreting statements and KFIs.
